Parenting OC's Annual Summer Opportunities Jamboree - Santa Ana
2019 date TBA

Parenting OC returns to Discovery Cube for its annual Kids’ Summer Opportunities Jamboree event. This year, Jamboree will have special guests, along with games and many new exhibitors featuring family travel destination spots, summer camps, and school information.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will be in attendance with the acclaimed Aquarium on Wheels, and back by popular demand is the Bubble-Dash Games. Come on down for this fun-filled, free family event.

The annual Dana Point Festival of Whales celebrates the return of the once-endangered California Gray Whale with a leviathan-size event. Pacific Symphony: Lantern Festival - Costa Mesa

Bring the entire family for Pacific Symphony’s third annual Lantern Festival, celebrating the Year of the Dog! The Lantern Festival, which can be traced back 2,000 years, takes place 15 days after the Lunar New Year—on the first full moon night in the lunar calendar—and marks the return of spring, representing the reunion of family.

Admission is FREE, but tickets are required. Due to venue capacity, admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the course of the event. Activities will include the Pacific Symphony Brass Quintet, Dragon Dance, Lantern Making with Bowers Museum, Riddles Chinese Folk Dance and more!

Arbor Day Celebration - Fullerton

If you and your green thumb are free, the City of Fullerton and Fullerton Beautiful Inc. would like to make a date with you. In observance of the national “Arbor Day” program, the City and Fullerton Beautiful, a nonprofit organization dedicated to beautifying the community, are sponsoring a tree-planting program at Hillcrest Park. Volunteers are asked to bring shovels and buckets, as well as gloves and sturdy shoes.

This night of Old West entertainment consists of four contests are rolled into one! Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle, and the Hairiest Man (best moustache and/or beard). So don your finest Old West outfit, belt buckle or facial hair! and enter one or more of the contests. There is a $5 entry fee (pay when you arrive) per category for each contestant entered.

For the more timid, spectators are always welcome at the hilarious Fiesta Grandé.

Swallows Day Parade & Mercado - San Juan Capistrano

The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation's largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am.

The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.

Bockbierfest - Anaheim

Anaheim Children's Festival - Anaheim

Fun for the whole family with free arts and crafts, dance lessons and performing arts classes. Over 20 booths will decorate the entrance area outside the Amphitheater in Pearson Park. Two stages will be located at the Festival – local groups that do a variety of entertainment will be featured. Musicians, puppets, bands, vocal groups, and dancers will perform.

For Model Kit & Hobby enthusiats, Old World Village will have some great Vendors lined up this year with quite a few of them blowing out their collections! The Line-Up includes: Multiple Model Kit Vendors (Cars, Ships, Planes, Helicopters, Tanks, and Armored Vehicles), 1/6 scale Figure and Armor Vendors, Toy Soldier Vendors, Miniature Gaming Vendors, Military Book and Decal Vendors, Documentary and Movie DVD Vendors, Die-cast Toy Vendors and much more!

Expo starts at 9AM at the Old World Banquet Hall. Tickets are $6 at the door and children under 12 are FREE! Parking is FREE.

Santa Ana Zoo's Party for the Planet/Endangered Species Day - Santa Ana

Open to the public, Party for the Planet is a fun-filled day that celebrates wildlife while promoting conservation and educating Zoo guests about the different ways they can explore and help protect the environment. The event is FREE for FOSAZ Members and included in the price of general admission. Santa Ana locals with proof of residency are welcome to join the Zoo's Party for the Planet free of charge.

Throughout the event, Zoo guests can create conservation-friendly crafts and play fun games, as well as learn from hands-on demonstrations and education stations featuring animals, recycling, sustainable living and a variety of special guests including members of the Santa Ana City Water District, Fullerton Arboretum and other community organizations.

Taste of Brea & Business Expo

The Brea Chamber's annual family-friendly festival regularly attracts over 2,500 visitors and showcases our vibrant business community and city as one of Southern California's premiere destinations for exceptional dining, quality entertainment, and diverse shopping options. Scottish Fest - Costa Mesa
May

The event features hundreds of bagpipers and drummers, Scottish and Irish food and vendors, Scottish clans, Highland dancing and traditional Scottish feats of strength like the hammer throw, putting the stone and caber toss. Part of the United Scottish Society, the festival was established in 1932 and was called a Highland Games in the tradition of Scottish heritage.

Rose Garden Tour - San Clemente & San Juan Capistrano

The Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain (RSSM) sponsors Elegant and Enchanting Garden Tours of four unique and innovative private gardens in south Orange County.

The self guided tour offers visitors magnificent floral and plant displays, garden architecture and ideas for environmentally sound garden practices. RSSM funds Horticulture and Plant Science-related scholarships for college and university students To date, RSSM has provided more than $50,000.00 in scholarships from prior tours. All tour organizers and participants are volunteers.

Browse the arts & craft expo with local vendors, while enjoying the Cinco de Mayo Mexican folk heritage entertainment lineup, and local Country, Blues artists.

Family activities such as crafts and games, bounce house, face painting and farm animal petting zoo! Everyone has the opportunity to sing-a-long and dance to great local musicians on stage…all for just the price of a $5 taster’s kit! Proceeds benefit SMRPD recreation programs including those for children.
