Festival of Whales - Dana Point
March 1-3, 2024

The annual Dana Point Festival of Whales celebrates the return of the once-endangered California Gray Whale with a leviathan-size event. In addition to whale watching at the height of whale watching season, festival includes a kick-off parade, Sand Sculpting, Ocean Awareness Day, musical entertainment, on-the-water Concert, Whale of a Block Party, Art Shows, Pancake Breakfast, BBQs, Kids Interpretive Crafts, Classic Car Exhibits, Lectures/Seminars at multiple venues including the Ocean Institute, Historic Walking Tours, Paddling Events, Sailing/Rowing/Kayak/SUP Demos, plus much more!

Pacific Symphony: Lantern Festival - Costa Mesa

Free Family event! Bring the entire family and join us for Pacific Symphony’s annual Lantern Festival, celebrating the Year of the Dragon! The Lantern Festival, which can be traced back 2,000 years, marks the return of spring and the reunion of family. The act of lighting and appreciating lanterns is a way for people to let go of the burdens of their old selves and express their best wishes for themselves and their families for the future.

Due to venue capacity, admission in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the course of the event. You will need a ticket for every person in your party, including babies in arms and small children. Though a ticket does not guarantee immediate admission, ticket holders will be given priority access. Be sure to print out all print-at-home tickets.

Knott’s Boysenberry Festival - Buena Park

The Knott's Boysenberry Festival is our annual food and wine festival that celebrates the park's historic roots by highlighting the little berry that started it all, the boysenberry. Indulge in a tantalizing lineup of dishes ranging from savory foods with a boysenberry twist to one-of-a-kind specialty desserts and drinks including a variety of wines and craft beers that you can only find at Knott's Berry Farm during this limited-time food-inspired event.

This night of Old West entertainment consists of four contests are rolled into one! Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle, and the Hairiest Man (best moustache and/or beard). So don your finest Old West outfit, belt buckle or facial hair! and enter one or more of the contests. There is a $5 entry fee (pay when you arrive) per category for each contestant entered.

For the more timid, spectators are always welcome at the hilarious Fiesta Grandé.

Swallows Day Parade & Mercado - San Juan Capistrano
Saturday, March 23, 2024

The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation's largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am.

The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.

Festival of Nations - La Palma

Scottish Fest - Costa Mesa
May 25-26, 2024

The event features hundreds of bagpipers and drummers, Scottish and Irish food and vendors, Scottish clans, Highland dancing and traditional Scottish feats of strength like the hammer throw, putting the stone and caber toss. Part of the United Scottish Society, the festival was established in 1932 and was called a Highland Games in the tradition of Scottish heritage.

Discovery Cube’s Annual Rocket Launch - Huntington Beach

Located on campus at The Boeing Company in Huntington Beach, this event is full of hands-on activities for all ages and includes a competition where you’ll design, build and launch your own 2-liter bottle rocket with pressurized air and water. Rockets with the longest “hang time” will be awarded prizes!

Rocket Launch is a free community event available to science, rocket and engineer enthusiasts of all ages.

Fullerton Faux Festival - Fullerton

Elton John, the Rolling Stones, and Johnny Cash. Fake Rock Stars for Real Kids!

Brought to you by the Fullerton Rotary Club in conjunction with Friends of Fullerton College Foundation. These music icons will take the Fullerton College Campus Theatre stage one night only.

All proceeds of the Fullerton Faux Festival benefit Fullerton-based charities. These phenomenal artists are also known as Kenny Metcalf (Elton John the Early Years), The Hollywood Stones (Rolling Stones Tribute Band), and Sean Oliu & the Coastline Cowboys (Tribute to Johnny Cash, Live From Folsom).

Annual Muckenthaler Motorcar Festival - Fullerton

A One-of-a-kind Automotive Cultural Event. Featuring car rally, motor movies & Concours d'Elegance and Horseless Carriage Tour. Live performances in the outdoor amphitheater by The Pleasure Tones on Saturday and Janet Klein and Her Parlor Boys on Sunday. Proceeds benefit youth arts education and outreach programs.
