Anaheim Cemetery Memorial Day Program

For 2021 - a virtual Memorial Day Program Video to honor and remember our Veterans that will be available to enjoy beginning Friday, May 28th. This Memorial Day video will be posted on the District website as well as on all of their Facebook pages.

The Orange County Cemetery District will host Memorial Day Services honoring veterans at all three of the District's cemeteries; Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park and Santa Ana Cemetery.

The program will feature a variety of guest speakers, wreath presentations, and an Honor Guard Firing Salute

BREA

Veterans of War Memorial Day Event

Please check back for possible 2021 event

Memory Garden's first "Avenue of the Flags" displayed six flags on May 30, 1958. Today there are over 1100 full size burial flags flown each Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Each one of these flags was given by a grateful nation to the family of a Veteran at the time of his or her passing. The grave of each Veteran interred in our cemetery will also be decorated with a white cross and a miniature flag.

The public is invited to join Pacific View Memorial Park for a special Memorial Day event in honor and celebration of those who have proudly served our country. Presented in partnership with the American Legion, Newport Harbor Post 291.

Memorial Day Ceremony

For 2021 - In order to help minimize the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and following the orders issued by our public health officials, in person events are cancelled. There will be a virtual program available on Monday, May 31, 2021

Forest Lawn – Cypress will be providing vintage military displays and vehicles on Memorial Day. Program highlights include Keynote address by Garth Massey, USMC Leadership Pasedena, patriotic music by Western High School Band, Rifle Salute, Invocation, Color Guard and wreath laying.

Following the Memorial Day Celebration, attendees will be treated to ice cream and much more for the entire family.

DANA POINT

Veterans of War Memorial Day Event
Monday, May 31, 2021
10-11:30 am

Dana Point Veterans of War Post 9934 presents this annual Memorial Day Event held at Pines Park in Capistrano Beach. A special part of this program is the “Boots and Rifle” ceremony conducted by officers of Post 9934, and the bugle call, TAPS played by that master of the trumpet, David Longoria.

Program speakers include Congressman Mike Levin, Dana Point Mayor Jamey Federico, Dana Point Police Services Captain Kirsten Monteleone, Sergio Prince from Orange County 5th Supervisorial District Office, and a Squadron Commander and Chaplain from Marine Aircraft Group 39. The program will include special recognition to veterans of World War II and Korea.

FULLERTON

Fullerton Memorial Day Ceremony

For 2021 - Memorial Day program has been regrettably cancelled for 2021. Beginning Friday, May 28, flags will be available at the entrance so families can place them on loved one's graves.

This year’s ceremony where we will reflect on 100 Years since the end of WWI and the US Army and Army Reserve.

Patriotic speaker for this year's event will be Major General (MG) LeBoeuf, the current leader of the 79th Division that distinguished itself in the Battle of the Somme in WWI.

Free to the public, the program is sponsored by the nonprofit American Veterans Memorial Association and the City of Fullerton. Members of the public including all veterans and their families are invited to attend.

HUNTINGTON BEACH

Military Gas Giveaway

For 2021 - While things may be different this year, Nuvision will be honoring active military and veterans with a free $25 gas card giveaway outside at the Edinger branch in Huntington Beach on Monday, May 31st. Please note, you must pre-register. Click link above to register

Nuvision Credit Union will host its fifth annual gas-giveaway on Memorial Day, in honor of veterans and active military personnel.

The two-hour giveaway, dedicated to all members of the military, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on May 27, and will take place at the Mobil station in Huntington Beach located on Beach Blvd. and Edinger Ave.

Must show valid VA or Military ID – Only trucks, automobiles and motorcycles – no boats, RVs, commercial vehicles. Maximum 20 gallons per vehicle.

Memorial Day Ceremony

This Memorial Day ceremony in honor of veterans who have lost their lives in battle is hosted by the American Legion Post 133. The program features a 21-gun salute, flag-raising and playing of taps. Local dignitaries will also be in attendance.

IRVINE

Memorial Day Ceremonies
Monday, May 31, 2021
10:00am

To honor our nation’s fallen, the City of Irvine is hosting two Memorial Day events.

Sunday, May 30, 2021 12-8 pm
Northwood Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony - a special candle lighting ceremony will be held at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial and will include presentations by Gold Star families. Visitors will be invited on-site to light a remembrance candle, complete wall rubbings of names on the memorial, and honor the fallen at the memorial. Staff will be on-site Saturday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, May 30, from noon to 8 p.m. to assist guests and to ensure social distancing and gathering guidelines are being maintained.

Tthe City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in virtual form. A prerecorded video presentation will feature a welcome by Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan, tributes to military fallen by commanding officers Lieutenant Colonel David Tumanjan and Sergeant Major David Caero from Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion, and presentations from former ceremonies.

LAGUNA HILLS

Memorial Day Half Marathon
May 31, 2021

Honoring the United States Marine Corps Dark Horse Battalion, this favorite Memorial Day running event takes place in the beautiful Orange County cities of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Woods, and Laguna Niguel. Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to come out and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities!

With a half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles), 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles) and a Kid's Run (1/2 Mile), there is something for everyone!

LA PALMA

La Palma Memorial Day Ceremony
Monday, May 31, 2021
9:00 am

For 2021 - This year the Ceremony will be virtual and released on Monday, May 31. The Community Activities & Beautification Committee would like to recognize all veterans, who have passed away. Please submit a photo of the service member along with their name, military branch, rank and years of service. Each services member’s photo will be showcased in the Memorial Day Ceremony video.

The Memorial Day Ceremony has become one of the most time-honored traditions in La Palma. Having existed for over 30 years, the ceremony pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made.

The Community Activities & Beautification Committee will also be collecting items for a Military Care Package and letters to be sent to troops serving overseas. Support our troops by donating personal hygiene products, and/or other needed and wanted items. Donations will be collected starting in May at the Community Center and at the Memorial Day Ceremony.

MISSION VIEJO

Mission Viejo Memorial Day Virtual Ceremony
Monday, May 31, 2021

For 2021 - Mission Viejo will pay homage to the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms during a Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 31. The program will air at 8:30 am on MVTV (Cox Channel 30 and AT&T Channel 99) and on the City’s YouTube channel with additional programming throughout the day.

The City of Mission Viejo, VFW Post 6024 will present Public Memorial Day Ceremony Honoring Soldiers, Veterans. The ceremony begins at 8:30 am, followed by a reception where refreshments will be served.

One Small Step for Man – Memorial Day Remembrance


Commemorating the 50 Year Anniversary of "A Giant Leap for Mankind" featuring patriotic speakers, music by the Orange County Concert Band, Last Call, The NightinGals Vocal Trio and the "Star-Spangled" Contest winner singing the National Anthem.

The event also features a memorial flyover, honor guard detail, dove release, antique cars on display, complimentary hot dogs and more.

SEAL BEACH

Memorial Day Services

No event planned for 2021

Annual Memorial Day services will be held at the United States National Submarine Memorial West, located at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach.

The free event is open to the public and no advance reservations are needed. Observance will include speeches by local community leaders and submarine veterans and the “tolling the boats” ceremony during which each of the 52 U.S. submarines lost during World War Two is honored as a bell is tolled.

Westminster Memorial Park's Annual Memorial Day Service

Join Westminster Memorial Park & Mortuary for its 47th Annual Old-Fashioned Memorial Day Remembrance. This ceremony will honor American traditions and recognize fallen heroes who fought for our country, paying the ultimate price for our freedom.

The highlight of this years’ program will include music, entertainment, and for the first time, a “missing man formation” flyover. Light refreshments will be served.
