Anaheim Cemetery Memorial Day Program

The Orange County Cemetery District will host Memorial Day Services honoring veterans at all three of the District's cemeteries; Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park and Santa Ana Cemetery.

The program will feature a variety of guest speakers, wreath presentations, and an Honor Guard Firing Salute

BREA

Veterans of War Memorial Day Event
Monday, May 27, 2019
8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Dedication Ceremony at 11:00 am

The city of Brea will be holding a memorial day service on Monday, May 27th at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary.

Memory Garden's first "Avenue of the Flags" displayed six flags on May 30, 1958. Today there are over 1100 full size burial flags flown each Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Each one of these flags was given by a grateful nation to the family of a Veteran at the time of his or her passing. The grave of each Veteran interred in our cemetery will also be decorated with a white cross and a miniature flag.

Help honor and remember the courageous men and women who fought for our freedom by joining the Freedom Committee of Orange County and the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation for its 65th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

Ceremony will include:

· Keynote speaker Brig. General Ryan P. Heritage, Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Western Recruiting Region

· Aerial flyover

· The missing man formation by the Mentor Heritage Foundation March ARB Aero club

· Patriotic songs

· A static military display featuring WW2 and current conflict vehicles

· A wreath-laying ceremony honoring all military branches

Forest Lawn – Cypress will be providing vintage military displays and vehicles on Memorial Day. Program highlights include Keynote address by Garth Massey, USMC Leadership Pasedena, patriotic music by Western High School Band, Rifle Salute, Invocation, Color Guard and wreath laying.

Following the Memorial Day Celebration, attendees will be treated to ice cream and much more for the entire family.

Veterans of War Memorial Day Event

Dana Point Veterans of War Post 9934 presents this annual Memorial Day Event held at Pines Park in Capistrano Beach. A special part of this program is the “Boots and Rifle” ceremony conducted by officers of Post 9934, and the bugle call, TAPS played by that master of the trumpet, David Longoria.

This special memorial for all fallen veterans of all wars with flowers to be placed on memorial for loved ones and friends who served our country and have passed on.

Fullerton Memorial Day Ceremony

This year’s ceremony where we will reflect on 100 Years since the end of WWI and the US Army and Army Reserve.

Patriotic speaker for this year's event will be Major General (MG) LeBoeuf, the current leader of the 79th Division that distinguished itself in the Battle of the Somme in WWI.

Free to the public, the program is sponsored by the nonprofit American Veterans Memorial Association and the City of Fullerton. Members of the public including all veterans and their families are invited to attend.

HUNTINGTON BEACH

Military Gas Giveaway

8 - 10 am

Nuvision Credit Union will host its fifth annual gas-giveaway on Memorial Day, in honor of veterans and active military personnel.

The two-hour giveaway, dedicated to all members of the military, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on May 27, and will take place at the Mobil station in Huntington Beach located on Beach Blvd. and Edinger Ave.

Must show valid VA or Military ID – Only trucks, automobiles and motorcycles – no boats, RVs, commercial vehicles. Maximum 20 gallons per vehicle.

Memorial Day Ceremony

This Memorial Day ceremony in honor of veterans who have lost their lives in battle is hosted by the American Legion Post 133. The program features a 21-gun salute, flag-raising and playing of taps. Local dignitaries will also be in attendance.

IRVINE

Memorial Day Ceremonies
Two Ceremonies, May 26 & May 27, 2019

To honor our nation’s fallen, the City of Irvine is hosting two Memorial Day events.

Sunday, May 26, at 4 p.m
The Northwood Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony - a special candle lighting ceremony will be held at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial and will include presentations by Gold Star families. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m
The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park. Attendees can memorialize our troops' sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion.

LAGUNA HILLS

Memorial Day Half Marathon
May 27, 2019

Honoring the United States Marine Corps Dark Horse Battalion, this favorite Memorial Day running event takes place in the beautiful Orange County cities of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Woods, and Laguna Niguel. Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to come out and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities!

With a half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles), 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles) and a Kid's Run (1/2 Mile), there is something for everyone!

LA PALMA

La Palma Memorial Day Ceremony

9:00 am

The Memorial Day Ceremony has become one of the most time-honored traditions in La Palma. Having existed for over 30 years, the ceremony pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made.

The Community Activities & Beautification Committee will also be collecting items for a Military Care Package and letters to be sent to troops serving overseas. Support our troops by donating personal hygiene products, and/or other needed and wanted items. Donations will be collected starting in May at the Community Center and at the Memorial Day Ceremony.

One Small Step for Man – Memorial Day Remembrance

Commemorating the 50 Year Anniversary of "A Giant Leap for Mankind" featuring patriotic speakers, music by the Orange County Concert Band, Last Call, The NightinGals Vocal Trio and the "Star-Spangled" Contest winner singing the National Anthem.

Memorial Day Services

Annual Memorial Day services will be held at the United States National Submarine Memorial West, located at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach.

The free event is open to the public and no advance reservations are needed. Observance will include speeches by local community leaders and submarine veterans and the “tolling the boats” ceremony during which each of the 52 U.S. submarines lost during World War Two is honored as a bell is tolled.
