Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
December

The town kicks off the holiday season with it's annual treelighting ceremony. Ceremony starts at Historic Town Center Park, with activites at Mission San Juan Capistrano, Omar's Petting Zoo and Blas Aguilar Adobe.

Annual CARe Show
January

Benefitting the San Juan Capistrano Animal Rescue Organization, cars from all over Southern California participate in the open-class show, with trophies going to the top 15 entries.

Event also includes live entertainment, displays, vendor booths and opportunity drawings.

Taste of San Juan
February

This is the kick-off celebration of the Fiesta de las Golondrinas. The Taste brings together many of San Juan's marvelous restaurants under one roof to tempt you with 'tastes' of their fare.

Return of the Swallows Parade and Mercado
March

Welcoming the annual return of the swallows from their winter home in Argentina. This world renown event includes 3 weeks of celebration and concludes with it's famous Swallows Day Parade.

The Kid's Pet Parade
March

Part of the annual Fiesta de las Golondrinas celebration. Kids between the ages of 5 to 12 can show off their favorite animals in a contest for, The Cutest, Most Unusual, Best Team Costume (owner and pet), Funniest & Most Obedient (pet, not child!).

El Presidenté Ball
March

Journey back to the late 1800s of early California and let the Fiesta Association show you how "the West was fun" at this western style dinner dance, honoring Tacy Lee, La Presidenta of the Fiesta Association. Joing the dining, dancing and gaming where all colorful characters are welcome!

Swallows Day Fiesta Grande
March

This night of Old West entertainment consists of four contests are rolled into one! Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle, and the Hairiest Man (best moustache and/or beard). So don your finest Old West outfit, belt buckle or facial hair! and enter one or more of the contests.

For the more timid, spectators are always welcome at the hilarious Fiesta Grandé.

Easter Eggstravaganza
March / April

This annual Easter event usually includes Easter Baskets, Egg Decorating, Face Painting & an Egg Hunt with a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny himself. The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club & the City of San Juan Capistrano.

Music, vendors and a spectacular show are all part of this annual event held at the Sports Park. Bring a chair and blanket. No pets, personal fireworks or barbeques permitted. No entrance fee and free parking.

Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo
August

This Annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo is good ol' entertainment for the entire family, not to mention the richest 2-day rodeo in the nation. Proclaimed as the richest 2-day rodeo in the nation, it generally features saddle bronc, bareback, steer wrestling, calf roping, tie down roping and bull riding.

J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center Annual BBQ and Country Faire
September

Traditional family barbecue in a casual setting featuring live country western entertainment, activities for children, live and silent auctions and riding demonstrations throughout the evening. Country western wear is encouraged!

All proceeds benefit the programs of the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through horsemanship.

Ghost Tours

The San Juan Capistrano Historical Society's walking tour guides offer up a spooky walking tour of Los Rios Street, the oldest residential neighborhood in California.
