Many events have been cancelled this year, but there will be a few virtual programs as well as fireworks shows you can view from you car or home.

From festivals and fireworks to Independence Day parades, here are the best 4th of July events for your entire family.

Inaugural Family Bike Parade & Celebration
no event for 2020

The bike parade at this inaugural begins at 9 am at Grand Avenue and travels down Aliso Viejo Parkway to the lawn next to 26800 Aliso Viejo Parkway for a free community festival featuring carnival games, giant slide, obstacle course, rock wall, face painting, a DJ & game master!

Parade participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers, and all dogs must be leashed. Street closures are planned from 8 am to noon that day: Aliso Viejo Parkway between Pacific Park and Vantis with event parking access from Pacific Park Drive only Grand between Wood Canyon and Vantis.

Canyon Hills Community Council's Annual Fourth of July Celebration
2020 event cancelled

This event starts early with a 5K/10K run at 7 a.m. and a pancake breakfast at 7:30 at Canyon High School. The Yankee Doodle Dog Show and parade follows these events. From there, the party moves to Peralta Park, where you will enjoy countless food vendor and expo booths of local businesses and organizations and live musical performances. Don’t forget to grab a seat for your family and friends as the night culminates with a spectacular fireworks display at 9 pm honoring the red white and blue!

Newport Landing will have 3 cruises for the 4th Of July including the Firework Spectacular evening cruise. Witness Newport Harbor as it is full of the Spirit of America.

2 1/2 hour daytime cruise times - 1:00pm to 3:30pm & 4:00pm to 6:30pm. Night time fireworks cruise will run 7:00pm to 9:30pm.

Annual Brea Country Fair

Day-long festivities begin with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. followed by the Brea Ministerial Association Morning Service. The Fair opens at 10 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. with live entertainment, kiddie parade, food, games, exhibits, teen fun area, and Market Place craft area. Swimming at the Plunge begins at 11 a.m. for $3. Admission is free.

Pacific Symphony: Virtual July 4 Spectacular
July 4 - August 18, 2020

Join Pacific Symphony for a free Independence Day concert featuring patriotic favorites such as John Williams' "Midway March," "76 Trombones" from "The Music Man," "God Bless the USA" with Lee Greenwood, "Stars and Stripes Forever" and the finale from Peter Boyer's "Ellis Island: The Dream of America."

Plus, the debut of a mosaic performance of "America the Beautiful" featuring Pacific Chorale and the American Feel Young Chorus, a musical salute to the armed forces and a virtual fireworks finale!

This Independence Day Celebration will take place from 4:00-9:30pm and will feature live music from Southern California's premier Class Rock Band, "The Emperors", food trucks, and vendor booth all leading up to a spectacular fireworks display will beginning at 9:00pm.

Festival seating, picnics, families, and lawn chairs are encouraged with food, refreshments, and alcohol available for purchase. Motor homes, outside alcohol, dogs, BBQ's and fireworks are NOT permitted at this event.

Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza

Start out early in the morning if you're planning an Independence Day celebration at Doheny State Beach as this is the busiest day of the year. At 8:45 pm, tune your radio to KSBR 88.5FM, look toward the skies over Doheny State Beach and experience this patriotic extravaganza. The fireworks are synchronized to a captivating musical score…if you haven’t heard the music with the fireworks, you’re only getting half the experience!

4th of July Fireworks Cruises

Annual Community Fireworks Show and Festival

Cancelled for 2020

Food, entertainment and fireworks!

Inside the event area, participants can find kids' activities including face painting, bounce houses, a caricature artist, and a stilt walker. NOMINAL FEES MAY APPLY for activities (Approximately $2 to $5). Enjoy live music by James Intveld. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. and last for approximately 20 minutes.

All food is reasonably priced, and is being offered by local charity organizations as a fundraising activity. There is no alcoholic beverage service.

For 2020, there will beOneHB Neighborhood Parade and decorating contest. All regular events will be cancelled.

Three days of fun with live entertainment, exhibitors, food vendors and family activities.

Pier Plaza Festival runs July 1st - July 4th from ​9:00am - 10:00pm. On Wednesday, the 4th, there will be a parade, pancake breakfast, 5K Run and fireworks over the ocean at 9 pm.

Hosted by the Irvine Police Association, this event is a Pyro Musical sky concert & Fireworks extravaganza! This year's event will be featuring: Live music by the Derek Bordeaux Group, Professional Field Entertainers with Field Games and Activities, Bounce Houses, Raffle with Prizes & Gourmet Food Trucks (food available for purchase).

Laguna Beach

City of Laguna Beach Fireworks Display
The 2020 City fireworks show is cancelled.

The City fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. The fireworks will originate from Monument Point at Heisler Park. For this reason, the Monument Point area will be closed all day on the 4th of July. Beginning at approximately 5pm, the area of Heisler Park from the Rock Bench at Myrtle Street to the Rockpile Beach stairs at Jasmine Street will be closed to the public to allow for fireworks preparation.

After the fireworks show, expect heavy traffic as many visitors will be leaving the city via Laguna Canyon Road and Coast Highway.

Carnival rides and games, live music, and patriotic crafts will all be part of the celebration, along with a fabulous fireworks show to conclude the evening. Annual 4th of July Spectacular
July 4, 2020

The City of La Habra will celebrate the 4th of July with a fireworks show that will launch from La Bonita Park at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th. The park will be closed to allow for a safe fireworks launch. Watch from the safety of your home, practicing social distancing

There will be a military flyover, in cooperation with the Lyon Air Museum and Air Combat USA, that will reach La Habra at 2:30 p.m., after passing over the cities of Orange and Buena Park. It will include three planes, one WWII C-47 Skytrain and two Marchetti F-260s. Many thanks to our sponsors, Martplan Insurance Agency and CR&R Environmental Services.

Fourth of July Parade

Parade starts at the intersection of Toledo Way and Ridge Route. Parking is located in the El Toro High School back parking lot, which can be accessed on Serrano Road from El Toro Road. This parking lot does fill up quickly. Parking can also be found Lake Forest Drive and Serrano Road.

Starts at the corner of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive and ends on Serrano at Dayton.


La Palma

Annual Run for Fun Event

A healthy way to kick off your Fourth of July Festivities! La Palma's Fitness Run for Fun is more than just another run: it's an opportunity to experience that small town/hometown sense of community. 5K Run, 5K Walk, & 10K Run all start at 7:30 am.

Kids! Join in the 8th annual Yankee Doodle Dash (8:30 a.m.), a race geared for children 2 – 12 years old. This non-competitive run will have two starting points based on age or ability.

The Family Fun Zone will have plenty to do for families of all ages! The La Palma Kiwanis Club will also serve their annual Pancake Breakfast at 7:30

Fireworks Celebration
July 4, 2020
Gates open at 7:15 pm, Fireworks begin at 9 pm

The City of Los Alamitos and the City of Seal Beach invites you and your family to attend the Drive-Up 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular held at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. The event will entail a drive-up and view format of the fireworks show that will begin approximately at 9:00 p.m. Please be patient entering the Base at either the Lexington Gate (Lexington and Katella) or Orangewood Gate (Orangewood and Los Al Blvd) as a high volume of vehicles are expected to arrive and a check-in procedure will be in place. The check-in procedure will include an I.D. check, temperature check, and health screenings for all individuals inside each vehicle.

No pedestrians and bicycles will be allowed onto the installation. Please follow exact instructions from parking attendants as they will direct vehicles on where to park.

Mission Viejo

The Mission Viejo Annual Street Faire and Fireworks Spectacular
July 4, 2020
Fireworks only this year at
9 pm

Since the annual Street Faire was cancelled and the Mission Viejo Lake Association closed its beaches, residents are encouraged to view the show from alternate locations this year. Although gathering around the park is strictly prohibited to promote social distancing, the fireworks can be seen from various locations surrounding the area and high elevations along Marguerite, Alicia and Olympiad. Limited parking around the park will be available for people to see the show from their vehicles, but residents are urged to find alternate locations to watch the fireworks.

Launching from the Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park. Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park will be closed to the public; no vehicle or pedestrian access or entry. There will be no shuttle operating this year.

Each year the Newport Beach Harbor becomes a festive delight as owners adorned their boats in red-white-&-blue decorations, balloons, streamers and waving flags that outline the skies as Sousa Marches and Anthems fill the air. Families and friends from near and far arrive at the bay front beaches and yacht clubs along the peninsula and the many islands, vying for the best spot to settle down and view the boat parade.

2020 event cancelled

Celebrate July 4th at Independence Day on the Back Bay, sponsored by the City of Newport Beach. Our annual celebration will feature live entertainment, carnival games, a photo booth, food trucks and Orange County’s largest fireworks display!

Event is free to the public. Parking is $50 per car, single entry only. Traffic will be extremely heavy, please plan accordingly. Gates will be open at 8 AM!

For over two decades, the City of Orange 3rd of July Celebration has been a beloved community event. The Celebration features live music, a petting zoo, pony rides, children’s activities, community food booths, and an authentic hometown carnival atmosphere. When the sun sets, our grand finale begins with a performance by the Orange Community Master Chorale, and climaxes with a patriotic fireworks salute to America.

San Clemente Fireworks Show

For 2020, The City of San Clemente will host its annual fireworks show from the Vista Hermosa Sports Park (VHSP), located at 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa. In light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the fireworks show is being relocated to the VHSP to avoid overcrowding and large gatherings at the beach and surrounding pier area. For safety, there will be no vehicle or pedestrian access or entry into the sports park.

To encourage residents to celebrate at home, the City is pleased to offer a live stream of the fireworks display. At approximately 8:50 p.m., spectators can enjoy a July 4th Fireworks Virtual Opening Ceremony which will include a message from San Clemente City Council, a rendition of the national anthem, and other homages honoring Independence Day. The video will be available from the City’s YouTube channel and will include the accompanying fireworks music.

San Juan Capistrano 4th of July Drive-in Fireworks Show
July 4, 2020

Advanced reservations will be required for entry into the free event.

Reserved parking accommodations are available for San Juan Capistrano residents only, and a City address will be required to complete your reservation. To safely and efficiently coordinate the parking for all attendees, three parking time slots are available beginning at 7:00 p.m. Attendees will be directed to available parking spaces located within the Sports Park, Marco Forster Middle School, Del Obispo Elementary School and Kinoshita Elementary School parking lots. Public parking along the surrounding streets will also be available on a first come, first served basis. Pedestrians or cyclists will not be admitted onto the grounds.

For those who would prefer to watch the show from home, the fireworks display as well as accompanying music will be livestreamed on the City’s website.
