Strawberry Festival - Garden Grove

The festival is a parade and carnival celebrating the city's strawberry-growing history. Free admission!

Scottish Fest - Costa Mesa
May 28-29, 2022

The event features hundreds of bagpipers and drummers, Scottish and Irish food and vendors, Scottish clans, Highland dancing and traditional Scottish feats of strength like the hammer throw, putting the stone and caber toss. Part of the United Scottish Society, the festival was established in 1932 and was called a Highland Games in the tradition of Scottish heritage.

Pretend City Presents: Dino City - Irvine
May 28 - September 2, 2022

Venture to Pretend City this summer for Dinos in The City! Explore engaging interactives with life-like animatronic dinosaurs and exciting educational content. Learn how paleontologists unearth bones, dig in our dinosaur pit, you’ll even be able to take home an etching of several species of dinosaurs!

Segerstrom Center for the Arts Presents: American Ballet Theater Showcase
May 28-29, 2022

The ABT Gillespie School Final Showcase is the opportunity for all students to perform on one of the renowned stages at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The ABT Gillespie School provides students with the highest quality of classical ballet training through the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum which offers students a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique incorporating elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training. The ABT Gillespie Final Showcase demonstrates the progression of the curriculum while offering students a chance to perform for friends and family.

South Coast Repertory presents: Our Town - Costa Mesa
May 7 - June 4, 2022

Life has begun in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Milk is being delivered. Breakfast is on the stove. We meet the town gossips, the boys who play baseball and the choirmaster with a secret sorrow. And soon teenagers George Gibbs and Emily Webb will go from friends to puppy love to wedding day and beyond—two families forever joined together. And as they come to terms with the meaning of their lives, this Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic beautifully celebrates our own shared humanity.

Recommendation: Age 12 and ​up.

San Juan Capistrano Walking Tour - San Juan Capistrano
Saturdays
1 pm

The Walking Tour visits two San Juan Capistrano adobes built in the 1790s and the Victorian Pryor House. Hear tales of Buchard the pirate, Juan Flores the bandito, Chola Martina the bruja and much more.

The Historical Society gives tours every Saturday at 1:00 pm starting at the train depot. Tours last about 45 minutes and include the Society’s own collection of historic structures as well as other homes in the Los Rios District. As the oldest, continuously inhabited street in California, Los Rios Street is a charming neighborhood with a colorful history.
