Educational Programs

Eco-Adventure Center
Laguna Niguel

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel presents eco-adventures that inspire you with Southern California's unique ecosystems and connect your spirit to their larger global systems. Led by expert naturalists, the Eco-Adventure Center is dedicated to showcasing Southern California's natural wonders. Throughout these unique excursions, the local surroundings become a natural classroom and living laboratory. Adults, families and kids learn through experience, which instills them with deep appreciation and respect for nature. As well, they will understand how to live more environmentally responsible back home.

Discovery Cube

Imaginations run wild with over 120 hands-on exhibits at Discovery Cube, Orange County's leading destination for hands-on science entertainment. Take the Eco Challenge and become a green superhero, feel the power of a real rocket engine launch and explore the inner workings of a two-story tall dinosaur! Plus, with seasonal traveling exhibits and signature events throughout the year, there's always something new to experience.

For Teachers, Discovery Cubeis an interactive, educational and Grade-specific experience.

Discovery Cube’s Ocean Quest inspires, educates and engages the explorer within. Visit with local tide pool creatures like: sea stars, urchins, limpets, sea hares and more!

At Ocean Quest, visitors can see the latest traveling exhibit, explore hands-on learning in the Ocean Lab, and then enjoy the rest of the day exploring the Balboa Village with rides and great food at the Balboa Fun Zone (just steps away on the Balboa Peninsula).

Heritage Museum of Orange County

Heritage Museum offers an exciting line-up of educational field trip programs. Programs offered include a hands-on tour of the historic 1898 Kellogg house where students learn what life was like in the 1890s by playing with vintage toys, doing laundry, making butter, dressing up in Victorian costumes, and participating in other activities. Other programs included are 'Great Grandpa's House' for the youngest students, 'First Californians' & 'Gold Rush'.

Journeys to the Past

Instructors engage students in daily activities that helped build the West. Learn about churning butter and grinding wheat flower and learn about the personal grooming habits of shaving with a mug, and washing clothes the old fashion way, with a scrub board! Program also includes Native American "touch and feel" table: make an arrowhead, use and ancient pump drill method and make a shell necklace. See artifacts of the culture that first occupied this county before and during the gold rush era. Your students will take home history.

The Ocean Institute has become nationally known for its hands-on marine science, environmental education and maritime history programs. On weekends, the public is invited to visit and discover ocean science, history, and literature

Pacific Marine Mammal Center

A non-profit, volunteer organization and education center. They rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick and injured seals and sea lions. Programs include a guided tour of the animal care facility and exhibit room, a slide presentation and observation of the animals. The also offer a range of educational programs for groups of all ages.

The students are immersed in nature all day, everyday. Academics are taught through the lens of nature combining methods of Waldorf, Montessori, project based learning and democratic learning. National Ocean Service - All About Oceans

The National Ocean Service (NOS) education team engages formal and informal education audiences to build environmental literacy through products and programs that incorporate the applied science of NOS. The team supports teacher infusion of NOS content into local curricula through professional development opportunities at conferences and through Web-based avenues.

Orange County Public Library

A network of community libraries in Orange County. There are currently 32 branches as well as an outlet in Orangewood Children's Home to provide a variety of services to residents throughout the County. Some of the branches are operated within the jurisdiction of the county's 33 cities and some within the county's unincorporated area.

Volunteer Center of Orange County

Our Their Nonprofit Resource Center, the educational division of Volunteer Center Orange County, offers more than 150 seminars, workshops, and conferences annually. Staffed by experienced nonprofit professionals, they can assist you in any aspect of nonprofit formation, development, operation or governance.
