Nutcracker Christmas

FREE event featuring holiday craft activities, a real snow play area, a children’s train ride, free photos with Santa and holiday musical performances by local schools and community groups throughout the day. Purchase unique gifts from the Holiday Shopping Village and enjoy a wide variety of culinary treasures from the International Food Fair.

The day is capped off with a procession down Center Street Promenade led by the Combined Choirs of the Anaheim Union High School District at 5:45pm. Attendees gather around the living 50-foot Christmas tree, magically lit by a surprise guest and a holiday musical performance.

BALBOA PENINSULA (NEWPORT BEACH)

Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade
Newport Beach/Newport Bay
December 14-18, 2016

FREE to the public. The boat parade will light up the harbor for five consecutive nights. The parade starts at Bay Island at 6:00 p.m. and will last approximately three and a half hours. Over 250 ships participate in the parade along with hundreds of water front estates. Providing the backdrop for the parade is the Ring of Lights waterfront home and business decorating competition. FREE for spectators, entry fee for participating boats. Over million and half people view the parade each year.

For those of you that would like to be in parade Davey's Locker offers 3 general admission cruises nightly every night of the parade that are a part of the actual parade. Viewing the parade from a ship means that you see all of the parade and homes in full decor that line the waterfront. General admission tickets can be reserved over the phone.

Miracle on Main Street

This festive gathering of canines and their companions provides Fido with the opportunity to be photographed with the “Big Dog” himself – Santa Claus. Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

Newport Beach/Newport Bay
December 14-18, 2016

FREE to the public. The boat parade will light up the harbor for five consecutive nights. The parade starts at Collins Island at 6:30 p.m. and will last approximately three and a half hours over 250 ships participate in the parade along with hundreds of water front estates. Providing the backdrop for the parade is the Ring of Lights waterfront home and business decorating competition. FREE for spectators, entry fee for participating boats. Over million and half people view the parade each year.

For those of you that would like to be in parade both Newport Landing and Davey's Locker will offer 3 general admission cruises nightly every night of the parade that are a part of the actual parade. Viewing the parade from a ship means that you see all of the parade and homes in full decor that line the waterfront. General admission tickets can be reserved over the phone.

Irvine Park Railroad - Annual Christmas Train to Meet Santa Claus
December 1-23, 2016

Take an enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet and have your picture taken with Santa Claus. In addition to riding the Irvine Park Railroad, activities include story time with Mrs. Claus, a Santa Claus moon bounce, Christmas coloring corner, carnival games, ice fishing, picture stands and more. Hot food and snacks are available for purchase.

The cost to ride the Christmas Train is $12.00 per person. Children younger than 24 months ride free. Prices for activities vary.

Christmas Painting Fun Night at Mission Art

This workshop is a fun workshop. We will teach you how to paint with simple method. At the end of the session, participants will have 1 completed canvas to take home with them. All supplies are provided. No prior art experience is required. In fact, many times some of the best paintings are done by people who have never painted prior to the workshop. It isn't about talent; it's about the process and how much you will enjoy the painting!

Seen as deluded and dangerous by a Macy's counselor, she plots to have Kris taken to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital. In a dramatic court decision, Kris is confirmed as the true Santa, allowing countless children and all of us to experience the joy of childhood fantasy. This heartwarming holiday story is what we want Christmas to be all about.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

December 3, 2016
4:15-9 pm

This annual celebration begins at 4:15 p.m. with performances by Capistrano Valley High School Orchestra, San Juan Capistrano Youth Mariachi's and Ballet Foklorico, followed by a holiday stage production featuring students of Musical Theater University. The official lighting of the Christmas tree will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Immediately following the ceremony there will festivities at the San Juan Capistrano Mission, Los Rios Park, ZOOMARS and throughout the downtown area. There will be free photos with Santa Claus at Los Rios Park, a puppet show, along with a free Christmas train ride and crafts. Mrs.Claus will entertain children at the O'Neil Museum with "Story Time." ZOOMARS will open the gates to their petting zoo at no charge and offer a train and hay rides for a nominal fee. Capistrano Valley High School will accept donations for face painting on Verdugo Street. Pathway to Hope has two "Live Nativity" performances planned at ZOOMARS. Finally, stroll around the downtown area where shops will remain open, offering complimentary refreshments and special sale items.

Annual Handel's Messiah community sing-along
