Artists Village Open House - Santa Ana
First Saturday of the Month

Downtown Santa Ana comes alive with arts the first Saturday of each month when galleries, theatres, artists and performers in the Artists Village host a monthly Open House for the public. This free event attracts as many as 1500 individuals who come from throughout Los Angeles and Orange County to walk more than 150 participating studios and galleries located in historic buildings in the heart of downtown Santa Ana.

Photography Workshops with Mark Robert Halper
Mark Robert Halper currently offers a three day intensive called Photographing People for Publication out of his Los Angeles studio. These workshops are offered about three times a year and tend to fill up a couple of months in advance. Mark is passionate about everything he does. A commercial photographer for over fifteen years, Mark has built a successful career in a very competitive field by bringing a consistent vision to a very diverse client base that includes corporate, advertising, editorial and entertainment. He thrives on the variety in the projects he tackles. Mark has been an instructor at the Santa Fe Workshops. the Julia Dean Workshops and at UCLA Extension.

Visitor Night at UCI Observatory - Total Lunar Eclipse

UCI Observatory is open to the general public, approximately 6 times per year.

This Wednesday, the public can use their telescopes to see the planets Mars and Saturn, the Orion Nebula and star clusters. In addition, a rare total lunar eclipse will happen from 5:43 - 9:09 pm when the Moon passes through the Earth's shadow. Listen to a lecture entitled "Eclipses in the Solar System and Beyond". Night Sky Maps will be given out so you can learn to locate your favorite constellations.

Barbershop Harmony Society

Anywhere from 20 to 40 men gather every Monday at 7 pm to learn how to 'ring chords' and make great four-part harmony. Generally familiar to those attending, the songs are great to listen to for guests and 'listening'loos' who are welcome to drop in.

Evening Coastal Cruises with Live Music - Dana Point

Dana Wharf Sportfishing in Dana Point offers our Evening Live Music Cruises every Saturday evening starting July 5th. The cruise will be aboard the 95-foot Dana Pride which has upper deck seating as well as inside seating in it's large galley, making it one of the most comfortable rides on the water. The boat also features a full bar including wine, beer (domestic and imported), and mixed drinks. This trip will be a harbor cruise although sometimes we may venture outside, going to see the famous Dana Point headlands, weather permitting.

Recreation and Outdoor Fun

Saturday Fun Roll

Meets every Saturday morning at 10:30a.m. just north of the Huntington Beach Pier at the amphitheater for a skate of approximately 16 miles round trip. The pace is nice and easy and all ages and levels are welcome. They make several rest stops at various points to let everyone catch up. If you miss them at the beginning, just skate south on the beach path, they retrace the route back, so they'll eventually meet. It's highly recommend that you wear all protective gear - at least wristguards and a helmet. Afterwards you can join everyone for lunch in or around downtown Huntington Beach.
