Cinema Sage Hill

A free monthly film series open to the public. Created to foster an appreciation and an awareness of independent films and expose audiences to the creative aspects of filmmaking, Cinema Sage Hill will showcase diverse and thought provoking independent narrative and documentary films from around the world. Films will screen at The Studio at Sage Hill, the new state of the art cultural facility on the campus of at Sage Hill School. Panel discussions with filmmakers, documentary subjects, scholars, cultural leaders and journalists will follow select screenings.

Barbershop Harmony Society

Anywhere from 20 to 40 men gather every Monday at 7 pm to learn how to 'ring chords' and make great four-part harmony. Generally familiar to those attending, the songs are great to listen to for guests and 'listening'loos' who are welcome to drop in.

Saturday Fun Roll

Meets every Saturday morning at 10:30a.m. just north of the Huntington Beach Pier at the amphitheater for a skate of approximately 16 miles round trip. The pace is nice and easy and all ages and levels are welcome. They make several rest stops at various points to let everyone catch up. If you miss them at the beginning, just skate south on the beach path, they retrace the route back, so they'll eventually meet. It's highly recommend that you wear all protective gear - at least wristguards and a helmet. Afterwards you can join everyone for lunch in or around downtown Huntington Beach.

Each 8-week session meets once a week for 90 minutes. Acting Workshops

Arts & Learning
Classes meet on the campus of: Vanguard University, Costa Mesa

The lives of Orange County children of all ages and backgrounds are enriched not just with a love of the arts but also with valuable life skills gained at the Arts & Learning Conservatory. Since its beginnings as a summer performing arts camp in 2004, the nonprofit has grown into a lively center offering dynamic theater, music and dance programs to 800 students ages 5-17 each year. Instructors adapt college-level fine arts material to be age appropriate for participants, inspiring the students while challenging them to reach their personal and artistic potential. As the children learn to audition and perform alongside one another, they gain teamwork, communication, public speaking and social skills. The Arts & Learning Conservatory makes hands-on experiences in the arts accessible to all children, regardless of race, age, income or level of experience.

Wyland Art Lessons in the Wild - Dana Point

Starting February 4th, 2012

This three hour activity aboard the Ocean Adventures Catamaran begins with a dockside presentation and art lesson, via video feed, by renowned environmental artist, Wyland! Guests will learn how Wyland has created some of the best know marine wildlife paintings and sculptures of our era. The vessel then departs the dock for a whale and dolphin watching adventure! Children can enter their art in an end-of-season contest for the most accurate portrayal of marine mammals to be judged by Wyland.

A portion of the ticket price will be donated back to the Wyland Foundation.

Bolsa Chica Conservancy - Wetlands Tour - Huntington Beach
2nd Saturday of the month
9 am - 10:30 am

Get outdoors and enjoy a free tour of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands! Take a walk with one of our guides and learn about the the rich natural and human history of the wetlands while exploring the wonderful ecology of the wetlands. Tours begin every 15 minutes and five areas of interest are included in the presentation: history, birds, endangered species, ecology and restoration. This free tour is on a first come, first served basis. This is a wonderful opportunity for vacationers, students, small groups and local citizens to visit our valuable resource.

Visitor Night at UCI Observatory

UCI Observatory is open to the general public, approximately 5 times per year. Visitor Nights are free of charge, although a donation per family is suggested to defray the costs, and there is a campus parking fee.

Mark Robert Halper currently offers a three day intensive called Photographing People for Publication out of his Los Angeles studio. These workshops are offered about three times a year and tend to fill up a couple of months in advance. Mark is passionate about everything he does. A commercial photographer for over fifteen years, Mark has built a successful career in a very competitive field by bringing a consistent vision to a very diverse client base that includes corporate, advertising, editorial and entertainment. He thrives on the variety in the projects he tackles. Mark has been an instructor at the Santa Fe Workshops. the Julia Dean Workshops and at UCLA Extension.

Biannual “Family Nature Workshops” on Saturdays are offered free for families who come to Starr Ranch to participate in workshops that include a sampling of their ecology programs, nature walks, and programs by guest biologists. During week-end “Wildlife Research Camps” families have fun together doing outdoor research with our biologists during day and evening programs.

EnoVersity classes cover the histories, varieties, and pairings of wine, cheese, and chocolate. Wine tasting room is located inside the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel.

OC Custom Wine
Anaheim

Oc Custom Wine is offering a Winemakers class. Priced at $300, it includes the barrel tasting, blending, bottling, corking and custom labels of a case of premium wine. For three or more cases the price drops to $216 per case. Classes are by appointment only.

Come by for a tasting, and possibly try your hand at blending your own custom wine!
