The staff at Starr Ranch Sanctuary, a 4000-acre
nature preserve east of Dove Canyon and Coto de
Caza, invites you to join us for our biannual
“Family Nature Workshops.” We invite you and your
family to experience first-hand the beauty of
wilderness in our rapidly urbanizing county and
to learn together during workshops and walks offered
by our staff, guest biologists, and docents that
will include: Cougars; Bobcats, and Coyotes!;
Hawk Research; Ghostwalker, Cougar in the Santa
Ana Mountains; Starr Ranch Ecosystems (during
a truck ride around the Ranch); Plant Walk; Reptiles
and Amphibians of Orange County; and Nature Walks.
Admission
is free, but by RESERVATION ONLY. Space is limited,
so make your reservations soon. Each person chooses
two programs during the 9 am sign-up. Programs
are available on a first come first serve basis.
Tables will be available for picnic lunches. No
pets are allowed. Rain cancels.

Bowl for the Gold - Irvine

Olympics is rolling out 12 bowl-a-thon fundraisers
throughout Southern California, where you and
three friends can bowl with one of our Special
Olympics athletes!
This
is a fundraising event for the athletes of Special
Olympics Southern California. To participate in
the Bowl for the Gold event, each bowler must
submit a minimum of $50.00 through either a personal
donation or by fundraising. Prizes are awarded
for bowlers that raise over $100.00, for the top
individual fundraiser, highest individual score,
highest team score, and the top team fundraiser.

5k course is around the perimeter of the Yorba
Regional Park and it is a flat attractive run.
Primetime will perform the timing, and there will
be music, prizes, food, and a kids fun run for
12 & under.
All
of the funds raised by sponsors and race participants
will help Reeve-Irvine research to battle spinal
cord injuries and other neurological afflictions
such as stroke, Alzheimer's, and multiple sclerosis.

Meet Santa Claus

an enchanting night ride through historic Irvine
Regional Park to meet and have your picture taken
with Santa Claus. In addition to riding the Irvine
Park Railroad, activities include story time with
Mrs. Claus, Christmas cookie decorating, a Santa
Claus moon bounce, Christmas coloring corner,
carnival games, picture stands and more. Hot food
and snacks are available for purchase.
The
cost to ride the Christmas Train is $8.00 per
person. Children younger than 24 months ride free.

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade 2009
Newport Beach
December 16-December 20, 2009
FREE to the public. The boat parade will light
up the harbor for five consecutive nights from
December 16-December 20 2009. The parade starts
at Collins Island at 6:30 p.m. and will last approximately
two and a half hours over 250 ships participate
in the parade along with hundreds of water front
estates. Providing the backdrop for the parade
is the Ring of Lights waterfront home and business
decorating competition. FREE for spectators, entry
fee for participating boats. Over 1 million people
view the parade each year.
For
those of you that would like to be in parade Newport
Landing offers 2 general admission cruises
nightly every night of the parade that are a part
of the actual parade. Viewing the parade from
a ship means that you see all of the parade and
homes in full decor that line the waterfront.
